Our history.

Pictura was founded in 1969 in Sweden, initially focusing on importing and selling yarn and knitting patterns. Over time, the company began producing art reproductions before shifting its focus to greeting cards. The first branch outside Sweden was established in Norway in 1975, followed shortly by expansions into Denmark and Germany. By the late 1980s, Pictura ceased selling reproductions and posters to concentrate solely on cards, gift wrap, and gift items. Today, Pictura operates in eight countries through sister companies within the group, and its products are distributed to many other countries. Pictura is now Scandinavia's largest supplier of greeting cards to retailers. We also offer a wide range of non-food items, including office supplies, gift wrapping, party accessories, calendars, stickers, and more. Our customers include both specialty shops and grocery stores. Our operations are primarily managed from the Danish office in Roskilde and the headquarters in Karlstad, northern Sweden.

Sustainability

At Pictura, sustainability means running our business commercially and financially responsibly while minimizing environmental impact and promoting good social conditions. We prioritize using high-quality, durable raw materials that bring lasting joy. For example, all our cards are made from environmentally certified paper sourced from sustainable forestry. We avoid materials that may contain harmful substances. We have long worked to reduce packaging materials and replace fossil-based materials with renewable alternatives.

By shipping some paper displays flat, we reduce the environmental impact of transportation. We also optimize and coordinate both our product deliveries and sales team logistics.

Code of Conduct for our suppliers

Pictura's code of conduct is based on ILO conventions on labor conditions and rights, as well as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This includes policies against child labor, forced labor, discrimination, and supports freedom of association and collective bargaining. The products we sell are made by companies complying with ethical laws and regulations in their production countries. This means adhering to laws regarding employee wages, working hours, health and safety, and environmental regulations. For suppliers located in countries classified as high-risk by amfori BSCI, we conduct third-party audits as a basis for ongoing collaboration.

Product safety

It is essential that only approved and safe products reach consumers. Our products are manufactured in compliance with relevant EU directives and regulations, such as the Toy Safety Directive, regulations on materials in contact with food, and the REACH regulation governing chemical use in products. We ensure compliance through product testing by accredited laboratories and stay updated on regulatory changes.
